The trip home these days (January) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is nice. The sun may be hot but the wind is quite cold. Whenever I get home from our Obhor office, I ride their bus which cost 2SR only.
The small or mini bus is only for men while the big bus (SAPTCO) takes women passenger too. The big red bus from SAPTCO has air-condition and is much more convenient and it costs only 2SR as well - the only thing is if you miss the bus, you have to wait 15 more minutes till the new one comes.
While taxi or limousine is the main transportation in Saudi Arabia, buses are good alternatives too and very cheap but that is if you are not in a hurry.
Stopping the bus is easy, you just shout "ALAJAM!" that is what I always here anyway. It's just like "PARA DIYAN!" when stopping a jeepney.
